Generation capacity adequacy evaluation based on peak load consideration

چکیده
This paper describes a new methodology based on peak load consideration for reliability evaluation of a generation system. The methodology has been developed using Simpson’s (1/3) rule for loss of load probability (LOLP) evaluation. Load models are considered as straight line and stepped load duration curve for reliability evaluation. The LOLP evaluation is based on peak load consideration. The probability of load exceeding the generating capacity has also been considered in LOLP evaluation.

Adjusted LOLE and EENS Indices for the Consideration of Load Excess Transfer in Power Systems Adequacy Studies
When evaluating the capacity of a generation park to cover the load in transmission systems, traditional Loss of Load Expectation (LOLE) and Expected Energy not Served (EENS) indices can be used. If those indices allow computing the annual duration and severity of load non covering situations, they do not take into account the fact that the load excess is generally shifted from one penury state...

A forward reliability market is presented. The market coordinates new entry through the forward procurement of reliability options—physical capacity bundled with a financial option to supply energy above a strike price. The market assures adequate generating resources and prices capacity from the bids of competitive new entry in an annual auction. Efficient performance incentives are maintained...

Power system has dynamic behavior as it faces various disturbances like sudden variation in load, sudden variation in generation and different faults. Due to the variation of load demand, the operation, maintenance and control of power system have become a challenging task. To meet the load requirements, many noticeable research activities are going on in the field of deregulation, restructurin...

In power grids, there must always be a balance between energy production and consumption. Due to the variable nature of consumers, energy production should also be subject to these changes. Electricity storage is one of the most important issues in the electricity industry, which can generate many ancillary services such as load curve leveling, peak shaving, integration with renewable units, ro...

Rising feed-in from renewable energy sources decreases margins, load factors, and thereby profitability of conventional generation in several electricity markets around the world. At the same time, conventional generation is still needed to ensure security of electricity supply. Therefore, capacity markets are currently being widely discussed as a measure to ensure generation adequacy in market...
